Posters

November 2010. Motivations and Designs for H2O. Two posters which where displayed together at the http://www.sicsa.ac.uk/events/sicsa-demofest event. The first poster (motivations) details the reasons why we are creating H2O, while the second (designs) illustrates its architecture.

June 2010. H2O: An Autonomic, Resource-Aware Distributed Database System. A poster which motivates the work that I’m doing and gives details on H2O’s architecture.

December 2008. DBHarvester: A Resource Harvesting Distributed Database. A poster which provides an overview of the work that I’m currently undertaking and some of the issues in the research area. It won the award for best poster.

March 2008. Conway’s Game of Life. A poster created for a National Science Week open day, showing interesting aspects of Computer Science.

December 2007. Search over Peer-to-Peer Networks. Based in part on the Search in P2P Systems talk (above) this presents an overview of the issues in querying data over P2P systems. It won the award for best first year poster.

Other

May 2008. Postgraduate Reading Group. I ran a postgraduate reading group for a few months in 2008. To basic idea was to get to know other people in the department, find out what they are doing, and possibly expand your horizons a bit (it might even impact our own research). We looked at the following papers while it was running.

April 2008. Mug Design. I designed the print for the school’s coffee mugs (quite an honour as I’m sure you can imagine). There are two designs that you can see here.

May 2007. Senior Honours Project. I won third place at the Scottish Young Software Engineer of the Year Awards for my work on YaWSA.

May 2006. Junior Honours Project Report. The project report submitted as part of the 3rd year team project. We had to develop a stock market simulation that
allowed clients to buy and sell shares between teams. Our team won the prize for best team project.
