What are you doing now?
After graduating, I did Business Development for SMRU Consulting, a subsidiary of the University of St Andrews. We’ve recently moved back to the US (North Carolina) where I have just accepted an offer to work for Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business starting in June. I will be working with the Global Marketing Team on web content and social media.
What is your favourite memory from your time studying Computer Science in St Andrews?
When I think back to studying at St Andrews, I just can’t help but think about all the really wonderful people I met, students and teachers. I have kept in touch with so many and often think about how much they have broadened my perception of the world.
What was your favourite module, and why?
I truly loved the Human Computer Interaction course- I find I use the basic concepts from this class often in the things I do and build- I even used it to illustrate a point during my recent interview. I have also found that the Web Development module taught me a lot about not just the right way to build a website, but the thinking and logic behind it. This has been extremely useful for creating web content and social media marketing, an area I am now moving more into.
What advice would you give to current students?
The people you meet in your courses are here because they are successful, bright and clever; they will go far! Keep up your links with them- you never know when you’ll need them for your future endeavours.
