What are you doing now?
Following a successful summer internship with JP Morgan Chase after my penultimate year, I joined their graduate program based in Glasgow. The Glasgow office is their leading Technology centre, where all the employees are in technical roles. JP Morgan currently employ 1,300 people in Glasgow with a view to add another 200 in the next 2 years.
After 2 years on the graduate program, I have recently rolled off as an associate. I work as an application developer as part of the Cleared Derivatives Technology team. We use a variety of technologies including Java, Scala, C#/.Net and Oracle/Sybase DBs. I thoroughly enjoy working with the company as there is always something interesting to work on with business, technical and regulatory requirements constantly evolving.
I am also part of the St Andrews graduate hiring team so I might be up at some point in the future to help promote the company’s graduate/summer internship programmes. If you are interested in JP Morgan take a look at tech hires website: http://careers.jpmorgan.com/careers/divisions/technology
What is your favourite memory from your time studying Computer Science in St Andrews?
My fondest memories of studying at St Andrews were working on the Junior Honours project. It was the first time delivering a project as a team and the skills I started developing there I still use today as part of my everyday job.
