Melissa Farinaz Mozifian
What have you been doing since St Andrews?
I worked in industry in the field of medical imaging for two years and now I’m starting my masters in robotics in Canada in 2016.
What is your favourite memory from your time studying Computer Science in St Andrews?
When I think back, all I remember was the time I spent in the cs lab with my peers. And the most fun we had was during the team projects, it would all get chaotic and we would have a lot of laugh (I’m sure there was a lot of drama and stress due to work but it all balances out in the end )
What was your favourite module, and why?
Computer Graphics, because its visual and requirements enabled taking the assignment as far as you wanted while the fun was maintained!
Programming projects: Working as a team, it was tough to work with some people but at the same time, great learning experience! If you are lucky, you always find one or two people you get along with and can work together very productively.
What advice would you give to current students?
Have fun and make the most out of the learning experience. You will have the most fun during University years, so cherish the time. Don’t be afraid of taking on more challenges during studies. This is the time to explore so take the time to explore as much as possible this includes doing internships, contributing to open source projects, hackathons, experimenting with different tools and languages etc. Once you graduate and start working there will be less hacking opportunities specially if you are planning on entering industry.
