What are you doing now?
Joined a fresh AI based start up called General Intelligence in Victoria with a team of 5 other X-facebook engineers + the founder. The business model is initially to use AI for stock market prediction to generate some revenue … then reinvest it into more AI research… and the cycle continues until we rule the world or something like that. Just kidding, these guys are pretty cool folk… the founder really gives me the impression that he doesn’t care about making the big bucks anymore – he just wants to do cool stuff and help make the world a better place. Keep your eyes open for our window cleaning spiders!
What is your favourite memory from your time studying Computer Science in St Andrews?
Working with Ognjen Arandjelovic because that dude’s just incredibly inspiring.
Which was your favourite module, and why?
Adam Barkers big data module – because Adam was a top notch guy who really cared about his students – and it was taught in an interesting no-lecture based way that facilitated team work amongst the students.
What advice would you give to current students?
A good AI agent will have an extensive period of observing and exploring before becoming well trained… remember that the hiccups during the explore phase are a prerequisite to the formation of the best trained agents.

Any which way the wind may be blowing
I am going, I am going
Where streams of whiskey are flowing”
