Doors Open @ CS, 11th April (10am-4pm)

On 11th April, the School of Computer Science at St Andrews will host our Doors Open event. We will be thrilled to welcome any and all visitors from outwith the School, whether you are locally based, from elsewhere in the UK, or from overseas. A First – CodeFirst:Girls courses recognised on academic transcript at the University of St Andrews

CodeFirst:Girls is an organisation which runs free coding courses for young women, with partner universities and companies across the UK. The University of St Andrews, School of Computer Science has been a keen supporter of CodeFirst:Girls for the past 5 years. Secondary School pupils from across the country are given a taste of what computer science involves by taking part in a practical programming activity. This sessions is part of First Chances at St Andrews.

International Summer Programme @ Computer Science

High school pupils from across the world are given a taste of what studying computer science at a Scottish university involves. Pupils attend lectures in the morning and take part in fun, hands-on activities in the afternoon. These sessions are part of the Science Summer Programme at St Andrews.

The School is welcoming teachers and representatives of Local Education Authorities as part of the Teachers Together Conference. Attendees will hear about the Computer Science Gateway programme.

LIFT OFF to Success

This session is run as part of the LIFT OFF to Success (LO2S) programme and is aimed at giving school pupils an insight into what it would be like to study computer science at university. During the session, pupils take part in a practical programming exercise, where they learn about software development techniques and gain LIFT OFF to Success
