The project aims to create a mobile application that can be used to identify inscriptions from Indian temples and caves and show the translation in English. The user can take a picture of the inscription or select one from their files, which will then be passed through image recognition software which will find the inscription the picture matches and the corresponding translation.

Longer-term goals are to cover a wide collection of sites and include several translations in modern languages spoken in India, as well as a number of other Asian and European languages, to make the history and culture of India more accessible to visitors of ancient sites.
